Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rovaweb LLC (“Rova,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use rova_code (the “Service”), available at rovacode.com. rova_code is a reputation-driven project marketplace and learning community where developers team up on real projects. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign up or sign in through GitHub or Google OAuth, we receive basic profile details from that provider, such as your name, email address, profile photo, and provider account identifier.
  • Profile data. Information you choose to add to your profile, including your username, display name, bio, skills, links, avatar, and any other details you provide to represent yourself on the Service.
  • GitHub contribution data. If you connect a GitHub repository to a project, we may read and store repository and contribution data (such as commits, pull requests, and contributor activity) to help display proof of your work and team contributions.
  • Project and usage content. Project pitches, descriptions, applications, team membership, messages, ratings and reviews of teammates, comments, and other content you create or submit while using the Service.
  • Uploaded files. Any files, images, or documents you upload, which we store using our hosting and object-storage providers.
  • Cookies and session data. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and operate the Service. See “Cookies and sessions” below.
  • Technical and log data. Information automatically collected when you use the Service, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages or features accessed, used for security, debugging, and analytics.

How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account and authenticate you.
  • To operate, provide, and improve the Service, including the project marketplace, team formation, learning content, and reputation features.
  • To display your profile, projects, contributions, and reputation to other users and, where you make them public, to the wider internet.
  • To communicate with you about your account, security, updates, and support requests.
  • To monitor, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With other users. Your profile, public projects, contributions, and reputation are visible to other users and, where marked public, may be indexed by search engines.
  • Service providers. We rely on third parties to operate the Service, including:
    • GitHub and Google for OAuth authentication and (for GitHub) repository and contribution data.
    • an email provider to send transactional and account-related email.
    • hosting and infrastructure providers (including server hosting, database, and object/file storage) that process data on our behalf.
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rova, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

Cookies and sessions

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in (session cookies), remember your preferences, and secure the Service against abuse. Essential cookies are required for the Service to function. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use rova_code so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) and collects information including the pages you view, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you navigate the Service. IP addresses are anonymized by Google, and we do not use Google Analytics to collect information that directly identifies you. Google processes this information as described in its Privacy Policy. We retain Google Analytics data for 14 months.

Analytics are not essential to use the Service, and you can opt out at any time:

  • choose Decline on the cookie notice shown when you first visit (this stops Google Analytics from collecting data in your browser);
  • install Google’s opt-out browser add-on; or
  • block or clear cookies in your browser settings.

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements. Content you contributed to shared projects or public discussions may remain visible in de-identified or attributed form where removing it would disrupt other users’ records.

Your rights and choices

  • Access and update. You can review and update most of your profile and account information directly in the app.
  • Delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings in the app. Deleting your account removes your personal information as described under “Data retention.”
  • Disconnect integrations. You can disconnect linked accounts (such as GitHub or Google) where applicable.
  • Additional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where required by law) to use rova_code. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

International users

Rova is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and hashed password storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials confidential.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
